AC Interviewed By ABC's Cynné Simpson

Anderson Cooper starting a family?

By Cynne' Simpson | October 27, 2011 - 05:25 pm

Starting at about seven in the morning, Anderson Cooper's world is in full motion.

There are meetings with producers and stage managers. Then walk-throughs and rehearsals at the Cooper set in Manhattan's Time Warner building.

But Cooper works to make everyone feel welcome

“I feel sorry for everyone in front row cause the light is right in their eyes and it’s a very tricky room to light and to deal with,” he says.

During commercial breaks, he engages the audience telling stories about working with stars like Walter Cronkite. They will laugh and sometimes cry.

And that automatic feedback is part of what Cooper says makes daytime television so great.

“It's nice having an audience you get an immediate response and get to interact with the audience - it's cool,” he says.

But some have questioned his decision to create a new show when he seemed like a shoe-in to replace Regis Philbin on "live with Regis and Kelly." He says that while he loves the show and hosts, he enjoys having more variety.

In markets like D.C., Cooper's show runs in the time slot previously held by Oprah Winfrey - an act that's hard to follow. But Anderson says he's up for the challenge.

“I'm not trying to follow in anyone’s footsteps,” he says. “You just try to be yourself and I'm learning every day and I think getting better every day.”

Once Anderson completes the two daytime talk show tapings, then his day at CNN begins and doesn't wind down until about 11 p.m.

With such a hectic schedule, does Cooper have plans to slow down and start a family?

“You never know. At this point I got three jobs I’m wrestling with,” he says. “We’ll see. You never know what the future holds.
