Conquering Your Fears

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Today’s Anderson is all about overcoming fears and not allowing fear to rule your life. Anderson attempts to conquer his fear of heights by suspending himself from the ceiling in his studio, approximately 100 feet above Columbus Circle. Anderson and Dr. Todd Farchione, Director of Intensive Program for Panic Disorders and Specific Phobias, use exposure therapy with several guests in an attempt to help them overcome their fears -- including worms and Anderson’s own fear of bugs with multiple legs.

Also, meet a woman so fearful of a catastrophe, she wakes up every day prepared for the end of the world. Plus, a social experiment exploring how other people’s fear can transfer and spread from one person to another, and real tips you can use to overcome fear.

Food Intervention Part 2

Thursday, October 27, 2011

Due to the popularity of our first food intervention show, Anderson devotes another hour to everything food! First up, Anderson tries working at his favorite lunch place, Boston Market, going behind the counter and dishing up some of his favorite meals to customers. Anderson learns about good fat vs. bad fat, good sugar vs. bad sugar, as well as what is really inside a hot dog. Anderson is joined by some young, fellow picky eaters, and continues to expand his food horizons by trying new and different foods. Anderson also welcomes the latest members of the “Anderson” Family Dinner Challenge for a healthy meal makeover.

Mark Wahlberg Returns to His Hometown

Friday, October 28, 2011

Anderson speaks with Academy Award nominee Mark Wahlberg about an epidemic affecting high school students.

Current statistics reveal one-third of all high school students drop out before graduation. Wahlberg, who dropped out when he was only 14, is now using his success to give back by working with the Boys & Girls Club of America and serving as spokesman for Taco Bell’s “Graduates to Go” program. Anderson visits Mark’s hometown of Dorchester, Mass. and has dinner with his mother, Alma, and his brothers, Jimmy and Paul, at their new family restaurant, “Wahlburgers.”

Anderson also speaks with Ross Cappicchioni, who at age 17 was gunned down in broad daylight by a 15-year-old peer as part of a gang initiation. Ross shares his remarkable story of resilience and tells Anderson how he survived such a horrific ordeal. Plus, tips on what you can do in your own community to make a positive change.
