Last week Anderson was regarded highly for speaking his mind about the unlawful, I might say, ban of reporters, photographers, etc. from within 65 feet from the oil spill "cleaning efforts." I was looking forward to see him on Monday with an update on that problem that has been talked about very little if not at all on any of the other news channels.
To my surprise I saw Soledad O'Brien heading the Monday AC360º newscast. I was pleased that Anderson had a real three day weekend to spend with Ben in New York. So, today, I turned to CNN at 10 PM sharp just to find Dr. Sanjay Gupta replacing Anderson. Great for Anderson I thought, he finally got, hopefully, a week off from reporting about the oil spill in the Gulf Coast and will be able to relax for a while (in the horrible heat wave we've had this week) in New York.
Then I thought about the update I was waiting to hear from him... Hmmm, curious. I would have guessed that this week would have been one of the most important weeks Anderson would have to report on the apparent lack of freedom of the press in the Gulf. Why would CNN keep him in New York when this problem is just raising its ugly head and Anderson seems to be the only one talking about it?
It's just a suspicion, but a suspicion that, if true, will have terrible consequences for Anderson. He could be regarded as a sell out to the big wigs at CNN or the government or, God forbid, to BP...
As much as I would like to see Anderson getting a well deserved week off, I also would not want him to get hurt by this turn of events that I am sure he is willing to expose and continue to Keep Them Honest.
I guess we'll know a bit more tomorrow Wednesday if we still hear nothing about this infringement on our Freedom of the Press. Or perhaps...
