Description: In response to questions during an earlier meeting between members of LGBT media and Melody Barnes, President Obama's Director of the Domestic Policy Council, the White House released a statement on July 7, 2010, saying that:
"As Melody noted, the President has long said he believes that both DOMA and DADT are discriminatory and that these laws should be repealed by Congress. The specific question of the Constitutionality of these laws is not an issue that he has spoken to."
However, as shown in this excerpt, during an interview with Anderson Cooper that was broadcast on CNN on July 13, 2009, the President did assert that DADT was "constitutional."
For the record, the Surpeme Court has never ruled on the constitutionality of Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
