Hangin' With Mr. Cooper

For the last month and a half, Anderson Cooper has been the source for around-the-clock coverage of the BP oil spill from Louisiana on Anderson Cooper 360 (10/9c, CNN). And according to the tireless anchor, there is no place he'd rather be.

TV Guide Magazine: How exhausting has this been for you?

Cooper: There are so many people here in need who are going through really horrific things, it's like, my schedule doesn't really compare to the stuff people here are going through.


TV Guide Magazine: Between this, Katrina and Haiti, you've covered some really bleak stories. Do you ever miss just hosting The Mole?

Cooper: [Laughs] I'm very happy doing what I am doing now. Even in the midst of bleak situations, you find people who are resilient and strong and determined to make the best of a terrible situation.


TV Guide Magazine: How do you make the best of this?

Cooper: Sometimes after the broadcast, we go down to the Spotted Cat and catch a great jazz band. It's one of my favorite bars in New Orleans, and a nice reminder that the city and its culture are very much alive and well.


TV Guide Magazine: You used to be a fan of My Super Sweet 16...have you found a new show to replace it?

Cooper: You know, I have sort of given up on watching those shows. [Laughs] Now, I basically just watch The Soup.
