NEW YORK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Monday CNN anchor and talk show host Anderson Cooper will spend a full hour talking about Jamey Rodemeyer of Amherst and the bullying that ended his life.
TV Talk Show Host, Anderson Cooper said, "I've been reporting on bullying and the death of kids for years now."
Anderson Cooper's new show will begin its third week with one hour focused on bullying and the death of Jamey Rodemeyer . We were there in New York last Tuesday for the taping in front of a live audience.
Jamey's sister found the courage to perform a song she had written after Jamey's death..
Alyssa Rodemeyer said, "Basically, it's how I deal with anything and so after all this, I just had to get the grief out and that's how I did."
Tracy Rodemeyer said, "The more people that we can touch and send his word out there, the more we can make this a better planet."
Talking about her son's death on a national stage like this wasn't easy for Jamey's Mom but it's something she felt she had to do.
"We really wanna just get Jamey's word out there" added Tracy.
Tracy said, "Everybody's different, everybody should be treated the same with dignity and not as if they're not worthy of being on this planet."
News 4's George Richert asked Cooper, " Can things really change? " Cooper replied with, "I do think so. I know a lot of adults will say this is something that's been around, when I was a kid it was around, and look when I was a kid there was bullying as well but it's different now because of all the web sites and mobile devices."
"And if we can just make it so that bullying is not something that is effective for social mobility, that actually intervening and stopping bullying is something that's effective for social mobility I think you're gonna have real change," added Cooper.
