Anderson Cooper headlines at Penn State Altoona
Penn State Altoona's Speaker Series will feature Anderson Cooper, host of CNN's, Anderson Cooper 360° Thursday, April 2, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. in the Adler Athletic Complex on campus. The title sponsor for the event is The Castle Group, along with media sponsors WTAJ-TV and the Altoona Mirror. Tickets for the event are on sale now. Anderson Cooper 360° is an unconventional, wide-ranging news program airing on CNN weekdays. Cooper joined CNN in 2001, serving as weekend anchor before moving to prime time in 2003 following the war in Iraq and then to a two-hour, late evening timeslot in 2005 following Hurricane Katrina. Cooper has traveled to Sri Lanka to cover the tsunami and Baghdad for the Iraqi elections. He also anchored much of CNN's live coverage of the funeral of Pope John Paul II in the Vatican City. In addition to reporting for CNN, Cooper provides reports for CBS's 60 Minutes, Dispatches from the Edge (2006), Cooper's memoirs about covering the South Asia tsunami, Hurricane Katrina and other news events, topped the New York Times Best-Sellers List and other best-seller charts.
Before joining CNN, Cooper was an ABC News correspondent and host of the network’s reality program, The Mole. Cooper anchored ABC’s live, interactive news and interview program, World News Now, as well as providing reports for World News Tonight, 20/20 and 20/20 Downtown.
