COLUMN: Bikini firing was coup for sexism; NBC was wrong

I am outraged that Amy Jacobson was fired from NBC-5 News, after her "Bikini Journalism," visiting "person of interest" Craig Stebic, while on her way to a swimming pool with her kids. I believe if my relative were murdered by her husband, I would appreciate ANY journalist doing ANYTHING to bust him, even it meant showing up as a busty blond in a bare-all bikini. Anderson Cooper has photos on the internet, shirtless in a swimming pool, so why can't Amy Jacobson be seen in a bikini? I think the folks at NBC News are punishing her for revealing skin because she is a woman, not because she was photographed in a bikini.
Jacobson said she had been on her way to a fitness facility with a pool with her young kids when she got an invitation to come over, from Stebic's sister, who was also at the Stebic home. A news report noted that in addition to the above, Jacobson's hair was wet, suggesting she had been in the pool. My hair is wet every day after I shower, and it certainly doesn't mean I was recently frolicking in a murderer's swimming pool.
I think it's time for Americans to get over their Puritan past, and wake up to what really matters in life - having the freedom to do what you want as long as it isn't harming others.
