Anderson Cooper: 50 Cent, Republicans Lost
February 25, 2009 -- 2:41 p.m. by Kali Holloway
There are a lot of reasons that Anderson Cooper comes off as a likeable sort – his indictments of post-Hurricane Katrina relief efforts; the fact that he’s credited with creating (I’m not kidding) “emo-journalism”; his copping to being a regular viewer of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Last night, during his nightly news program Anderson Cooper 360, he likely scored more bonus points with plenty of viewers for his ability to discuss partisan politics and President Obama’s lofty goals using the analogy of…hip hop beefs.
ROLAND MARTIN, CNN CONTRIBUTOR: Look, what he's doing, he's laying down: Here are the markers in terms of my presidency. I guess, if I had to use an example, sort of when like...Kanye West had his new album, and he said, I want to make it as bad as Stevie Wonder's...
COOPER: In your Kanye West analogy, I guess the Republicans, then, are 50 Cent?
MARTIN: Yes, because...
COOPER: Because they lost...
The message? Don’t let the old money, railroad tycoon-and-designer jeans roots fool you, bizzles. I'm still in the loop. [Idolator]
