"This is a beautiful scene," NBC's Brian Williams said.
And so it was. President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama took a stroll on Pennsylvania Avenue that prompted a thunderous reaction.
"The crowds are going crazy," said NBC's Andrea Mitchell.
"The crowds cannot be any more excited," said CNN's Anderson Cooper.
Fox News' Brian Wilson said the Obamas' vehicle seemed to be moving slowly enough so the crowds could glimpse the first couple. "That's what the crowd's here for," Wilson said. "There may be floats, there may be marching bands, but they really want to see the new president of the United States."
On NBC, Al Roker grabbed the new president's attention. Obama wasn't going to stop to talk, but he shouted to weatherman Roker, "It's warm."
