‘Dora the Explorer’ celebrates 10 year anniversary with a TV special and a trip to the NYSE

Hard to believe it’s been 10 years, but the perpetually 7 year old Dora, of Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer, celebrates 10 years on the air this week. And in celebration, Nickelodeon will air an hour long special, Dora’s Big Birthday Adventure, followed by a mini-documentary about the show.
The 12 minute Dora documentary will feature celebs such as Selma Hayek, Soledad O’Brien, Anderson Cooper and View stars Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd.
ABC News also reports that Dora and Co. (as in Dora’s creators and Nick exec producers) will ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange today. Quite a bit of hoopla for a 7 year old explorer!
Over the past decade, the character of Dora has traveled all over the world, teaching preschoolers a Spanish word or two along the way. Here‘s hoping that in her second decade Dora will pay a visit to Philadelphia!
In the Philadelphia area, Dora’s Big Birthday Adventure can be seen on Sunday, August 15th at 8:00 PM on the cable network, Nickelodeon.
