Anderson Cooper Dressed Like A Rabbit Because Apes Told Him To (Update)

From the department of WTF comes the story of a picture of CNN’s Anderson Cooper in a rabbit costume.

Last night Cooper tweeted an image to his 718,000+ followers that shows him putting on a, well, rabbit costume. The reason he gives is even odder than the picture itself.

So, let’s see if we can get this straight. He’s doing a story in Iowa. It’s about ape communication. Following it so far? Now – the apes “asked” him to dress up like a rabbit. As in, they communicated with him, and made it clear they would like him in a rabbit costume, so he complied.

Was doing a report on animal intelligence, at a facility for bonobo chimps. One of the things that one of the chimps has liked from a young age is rabbits, and the researchers there sometimes dress up as a rabbit when the chimp indicates that is what he wants. On a lexigram chart with more than a hundred characters the chimp indicated he wanted me to be the bunny and bring him some pine needles. I thought the researcher was kidding, but no one other than my crew and I were laughing.
