Anderson Cooper Dressed Like A Rabbit Because Apes Told Him To (Update)
by Steve Krakauer | 1:55 pm, October 14th, 2010
From the department of WTF comes the story of a picture of CNN’s Anderson Cooper in a rabbit costume.
Last night Cooper tweeted an image to his 718,000+ followers that shows him putting on a, well, rabbit costume. The reason he gives is even odder than the picture itself.
Here’s the full tweet:
- From ac: in IA for story on ape communication. The apes asked me to dress as a rabbit. Weird, huh? http://twitpic.com/2xd7lq
Can’t wait to see the full report! We’ve reached out to CNN for a little more explanation…
> Update: Well here’s what this is all about.
> Update: Anderson Cooper tells Mediaite:
- Was doing a report on animal intelligence, at a facility for bonobo chimps. One of the things that one of the chimps has liked from a young age is rabbits, and the researchers there sometimes dress up as a rabbit when the chimp indicates that is what he wants. On a lexigram chart with more than a hundred characters the chimp indicated he wanted me to be the bunny and bring him some pine needles. I thought the researcher was kidding, but no one other than my crew and I were laughing.
