Night Watch: Candidates Who Won’t Answer
By Brian Stelter
There are, CNN’s Anderson Cooper said Wednesday night, a “remarkable number of politicians this year who want your vote, but they don’t want to answer tough questions to get it.”
“Some of them are simply ducking reporters,” Mr. Cooper said, noting a trend that has been widely seen in this campaign cycle. “Others, though, are going further, trying to intimidate reporters who are trying to get questions answered.”
Mr. Cooper looked at the recent detention of a reporter by security guards for Joe Miller, the Republican candidate for Senate in Alaska, but also at a less prominent confrontation involving Allen West, a Republican Congressional candidate in Florida.
Later, Mr. Cooper talked to two guests about the silent-candidate trend.
