Anderson Cooper Begins Investigative Series Into Church of Scientology

CNN's Anderson Cooper will be airing a "week-long series, Scientology: A History of Violence," beginning March 29. The press release states Cooper will speak with former high-ranking, now defected, insiders from the Church of Scientology about allegations of abuse from its top commander, David Miscavige.

Last summer, the St. Petersburg Times published a multi-part investigation into the reports that Miscavige had beaten, kicked, punched and physically attacked members of the organization. The attacks, some perpetrated or witnessed by those who've come forward, were said to be part of systematic regime of tyranny to keep members in line.

Cooper will also investigate allegations that members of Scientology's most elite and dedicated members, called the Sea Organization, were forced to work under harsh conditions for pay well under the legal minimum wage.

Worse yet are accounts of forced abortions, family disconnections (shunning from those within the Church towards those who've left) and a long list of pejorative measures meant to emotionally and physically harass members who are deemed unfit or out of step with the rest of the organization.

After spending almost a year and a half exposing and reporting on the abuses perpetrated by the Church of Scientology, it is a relief to see mainstream media picking up the baton and bringing this information to the general public. Like any dangerous cult, Scientology's biggest enemy is exposing the truth behind the lies and facade. Can't wait to watch Anderson's report.
