As soon as news of the dire situation in Japan hit the CNN Studios in America, reporter Anderson Cooper quickly packed his bags. He was originally planning to report from Libya this week for AC360, but Cooper's plans quickly changed after the earthquake and tsunami hit the country of Japan. “I had my backpack packed for Libya today, but will be going to Japan instead. We’ll cover both for AC360,” Anderson tweeted on Friday night.
Below are Anderson Cooper’s most recent tweets from Japan:
Just talked to an American woman waiting on word on her husband working at the nuc plant in Japan.
Got to head home and re-pack my bag for Japan. Not sure how we will get to the epicenter.
In Japan, heading to Sendai.
On chopper at dawn landing in Fukushima.
On live right now, doing a 2-hour special from Japan.
We have a few supplies, protein bars, some water. No iodine pills yet. We’re fine, so many others here in real need.
Anderson Cooper will report live from Japan all this week for CNN's AC360. Due to the perfect storm of the fifth most powerful earthquake in recorded history, followed by the powerful tsunami and the threat of a nuclear meltdown, there is much to report on. Anderson Cooper promises to keep Americans informed through his in-depth reports and one-on-one interviews all this week.
AC360 airs every weeknight on CNN at 10:00 p.m. ET.
