Saratoga Springs native Pia Carusone, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' chief of staff, interviewed on CNN

Pia Carusone, chief of staff to wounded Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, was interviewed by CNN's Anderson Cooper Tuesday.

She reported that Giffords, who was shot in the head during a rampage in Tucson Saturday morning, is doing "remarkably well" and that her family is rallying around her. She also commented on the legacy of Gabe Zimmerman, one of Giffords' aides who [was] killed during the shooting.

Carusone, 30, got involved in politics after graduating from Bard College. She managed two congressional campaigns before joining Giffords about two years ago.
