Miami lawmaker responds to Anderson Cooper
State Rep. Frank Artiles, the Miami Republican who was featured this week on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, has released a letter he wrote show host Anderson Cooper reiterating the lawmaker's support of a bill that would stop doctors from asking patients and their families if they own guns.
In the letter, Artiles says he clearly told Cooper that the bill does not prevent doctors from discussing gun safety, just from asking directly about gun ownership.
"I was correct in stating on your show that it does not prevent medical personnel from speaking to families about general gun safety or providing safety literature," Artiles wrote.

"[T]o make sure the doctor-patient relationship remains intact..."
Asshole Artiles. How can the doctor-patient relationship remain intact if the doctor cannot ask the patient if they own a gun? How are they supposed to discuss gun safety if the doctor cannot mention the possession of a gun? A simple question, "Do you or anyone in your family own a gun?" is the start of gun safety conversation, but that is precisely the question that is forbidden from being asked. How do you discus safety if you don't know if a gun is involved or not? Asshole Artiles, you hide the truth in contradictory rhetoric and think you are getting away with it. I don't think so. Artiles, you are an idiot, and I know Anderson is smart to call your scheme out!
