I Heart David Gergen
Why I Go Ga-Ga Over Gergen
Now that the presidential campaign is finally over and the people have spoken, there’s one political pundit that I will sincerely miss seeing night after blissful night. He has become part of my nightly viewing routine with his seemingly endless knowledge of all things political. No, it’s not Anderson Cooper and his baby blues, nor Wolf Blitzer and his fierce intensity. The Man over which I pine is none other than David Gergen.
For those not in the know, David Gergen is Senior Political Analyst for CNN. He is that yet he’s so much more: McGergen is also professor of public service and the director of the Center for Public Leadership at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He has also served in the White House as an adviser to four presidents — Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and Clinton — and was an honors graduate of Yale University and the Harvard Law School. As Paris Hilton would say, that’s hot!
What is it about Mr. Gergen, you may ask, that sets my heart aflutter? It is quite simply his voice — a voice that’s as smooth as velvet and as calming as the ocean as it gently touches the shore. As a poet once said, his voice is like music that calms the savage beast. Even while chastising Republicans, the Gergenator — with no sweat on his brow nor anger his voice — always keeps his cool, never raising his voice above a calm whisper. Ahhh, excuse me while I fan myself… Is it hot in here, or is it just me?
While his looks may not equal those of Brad Pitt (some say he looks like The Cat in the Hat, yet others say he looks like a handsome baked potato), to me he’s simply Gergilicious! Dressed in his gray business suit and Brooks Brothers tie, Davy always cuts a commanding presence (and he does look quite dapper in a cowboy hat!).
While some ladies eagerly await Justin Timberlake’s latest CD, this gal is anxiously awaiting David’s take on Obama’s economic policies for the president-elect’s first six months in office.
You hear that, Gergie?!
For your eyes only, a small portion of my David Gergen collection! Enjoy! | |
