CNN Airs Footage Of Anderson Cooper Carrying Bloody Child To Safety

CNN broadcast stunning footage today of news anchor Anderson Cooper carrying a child in clear distress to safety. In what can only be described as a dire and chaotic setting, Cooper carries the injured child — with blood streaming down his face –into the frame of the shot of the camera. While some skeptics may claim that the shot looked staged, there is no doubt that Cooper is in a very dangerous place, and is participating in some very real drama.
As we’ve said in the past, Anderson Cooper and his crew at CNN have raised the level of reportage during the crisis in Haiti, reminding viewers of what they do best. Warning, the footage below is graphic and not for the faint of heart.

An excellent job by Anderson, but I am surprised that CNN would allow him to be out there like that during that chaos. Although, as a rule journalists try to remain separate from the stories they cover, in this case he did the right thing.
Although the actual footage of Anderson carrying the boy may look a bit staged (I am not suggesting that it was), the footage shot just prior to it did not. No question about it, this was a dangerous and unpredictable situation.

Anderson acted more than a journalist, he was like an angel sent down in order to save the child. The Networks need to pledge to their viewers that they WILL COMMIT a regular scheduled air-time to an update of progress in Haiti.. Not just now, or the next few weeks, but for a committed period. Keeping the World’s eyes upon and her citizens informed will prevent the people of Haiti falling prey to the terrible situations and politics that have exaggerated the extent of this disaster.
