Wyclef Jean Helps Raise Over Two Million Dollars for Haiti

A slew of celebrities have come forward to do their part to help the relief efforts in Haiti following the devastating earthquake that hit the country earlier this week. Leading the pack is Wyclef Jean whose Yele Haiti foundation has successfully raised over $2 million in donations.
Jean's website is set up in a way that makes donating to the relief efforts brilliantly easy - all you've got to do is text. By texting "Yele" to 501501, you can donate five dollars instantly to the relief fund. Finally, someone has figured out a way to make even the laziest people out there help out. We're truly impressed.
Jean is currently in Haiti, witnessing the devastation firsthand. The musician told Fox News, "This is apocalypse... The reality here at the airport has nothing to do with what's going on on the ground right now. We spent the day picking up dead bodies, all day that's what we did. There's so much bodies in the streets that the morgues are filled up, the cemeteries are filled up. So we participated in picking up the bodies and finding a place that we could put the bodies."
Jean has also joined forces with George Clooney and MTV to participate in the telethon that will air on January 22nd on all MTV networks, as well as ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, the CW and HBO. [my emphases] Anderson Cooper will also act as one of the show's hosts. Charities and organizations affiliated with the telethon include Oxfam America, Partners in Health, Red Cross, UNICEF and Jean's own Yele Haiti Foundation.
Clooney will be hosting from L.A., Jean from New York, and Anderson Cooper from Haiti. [my emphases] The telethon will also feature musical performances and celebrity appearances.
We hope having some very famous faces behind the relief effort in Haiti continues to inspire people to give just a little bit...especially since now they can do it without even getting off the couch or dialing their phones.
