CNN’s Anderson Cooper will share his world view with King Center audiences on Sept. 22, and Joe Cocker will make a stop at the Melbourne venue on Oct. 3.
Tickets for both shows, announced Monday by King Center for the Performing Arts officials, go on sale at noon July 27.
Cooper is the primary anchor of “Anderson Cooper 360.” Since the launch of the show, Cooper has covered major news events around the world. In September 2011, he became host of “Anderson,” a syndicated daytime talk show.
News and political offerings are something new for the King Center, said marketing director Nance Burroughs.
“But they’re doing well for us,” she said. Liberal HBO political pundit Bill Maher and Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly both were near sellouts in April, she said.
“Because they’re doing so well for us, we’re going along with it,” Burroughs said. “For Mr. Cooper ... he’s going to be doing a 45-minute talk or lecture, then he’ll be doing a Q&A with the audience, so it’s a chance for people to ask him questions.”
Cooper will be at the King Center at 8 p.m. Sept. 22. Tickets start at $47.50. Meet-and-greet packages are available.
Cocker, who had hit songs such as “You Are So Beautiful” and “The Letter,” will perform at 8 p.m. Oct. 3. Joining him for the show will be Dave Mason, whose songs include “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” and “Only You and I Know.”
Tickets start at $58.50.
The King Center will host a picnic on the patio starting at 6 p.m. before both shows, weather permitting.
