Kony Video Creators: 'What is Being Said About Our Charity is Not True'

Despite creating awareness of Ugandan LRA warlord Joseph Kony via viral video this week, the film's creator, Jason Russell, and the charity behind the video, Invisible Children, have come under scrutiny. Jason and his co-worker at Invisible Children, Stella, address the criticism that has surfaced in their unexpected and immediate fame.
Critics say too much money is being spent by Invisible Children on travel, promotional items and rent for the charity's headquarters, instead of that money going directly to the cause or its victims. Jason admits that the Invisible Children charity model is unorthodox, and says they base their creativity around "Steve Jobs' model to think different."
"As someone who has been working with Invisible Children for over six years as a mentor, taking care of the special needs of the students who once were abducted… and now are benefiting from the scholarship program of Invisible Children, I would say what is being said about how we spend our money is not true," Stella says.
She says money is spent on tuition fees for Ugandan students as well as other worthy causes.
