'Frozen Planet' Sneak Peek! Caterpillar Survives Icy Death

On Thursday, Anderson introduces viewers to Discovery’s new seven-part nature documentary series, “Frozen Planet,” narrated by Alec Baldwin, premiering this Sunday, March 18 at 8 pm e/p. The series was filmed at both the North and South Poles.
In this first look at the story of the Woolly Bear caterpillar, watch as this remarkable creature spends year after year eating at top speed and collecting food, and then freezing solid to survive each winter. After 14 years (most caterpillars last for less than a month), the Wolly Bear weaves a silk cocoon and undergoes metamorphosis to become a moth.
