CNN anchor Anderson Cooper is readying to launch his own daytime chat show Anderson on September 12, and like any good TV host Cooper has quite an affinity for pop culture. EW.com recently chatted with the silver-haired newsman and asked him to make a "must list" of his current entertainment obsessions. Among his selections? Broadway hit How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and off-Broadway's Sleep No More.
"Yes, it’s my Broadway debut," Anderson said of How to Succeed, for which he recorded a narrative track earlier this year. "I do a voiceover in the production with Daniel Radcliffe, but it’s a really fun show, and a great night on Broadway."
Meanwhile crowds at Sleep No More who experienced the theatrical event on the same night as Cooper probably weren't even aware of his presence. Audience members are required to wear Venetian masks throughout the show. "It’s an interactive play that is unlike anything I’ve ever seen," Cooper said of the work. "It’s like being in a David Lynch movie set in a 1940’s hotel. The audience moves around freely, in silence, wearing masks. I try to describe it, and end up sounding crazy. I end up saying simply, 'Go see it.'"
Cooper also included the novel Await Your Reply and TV's Breaking Bad and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills among his recommendations.
