Anderson Cooper to Host the 2011 CFDA Awards
Anderson Cooper is once again headed to the front line, but this time he won’t be reporting from the scene of a natural disaster or from the chaos of a revolution. The CNN heavyweight will be hosting the 2011 Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards. This year’s CFDA Awards, which will once again be underwritten by Swarovski, will take place on June 6th at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
Cooper is a friend of CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg and he even made an appearance front row at her Spring 2011 show, so it was only a matter of time before she tapped him to take the stage. “Anderson Cooper’s involvement in this year’s gala will lend yet another exciting dimension to fashion’s biggest awards,” Von Furstenberg said.
This year’s honorees include Lady Gaga, Marc Jacobs, Céline creative director Phoebe Philo, InStyle’s Hal Rubenstein, and The Telegraph’s Hilary Alexander, who is retiring this year. Nominees include Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Reed Krakoff, Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen, Jason Wu, Phillip Lim, and Prabal Gurung, so expect an interesting star studded evening. ~Nola Weinstein
