Don Lemon, Not Anderson Cooper, is CNN's First Openly Gay Anchor

All of last week we kept hearing the same rumor and seeing the same blind item over and over suggesting that a CNN news anchor would be coming out of the closet. Many people assumed that anchor would be Anderson Cooper. As it turns out, it was not Cooper, but rather, Don Lemon.

The news that Lemon is gay is not news to the news industry, where his sexual orientation was already widely known. But, he did admit it publicly in a new memoir that is out, in which he wrote:

"I abhor hypocrisy. I think if you're going to be in the business of news, and telling people the truth, of trying to shed light in dark places, then you've got to be honest. You've got to have the same rules for yourself as you do for everyone else."

With that, Lemon became the first openly gay news anchor on CNN.
