Okay NBC and MSNBC You Made Your Point Now Put Keith Olbermann Back On The Air
— Lyndon Evans @ 2:00 AM
When I first read about this the other night after getting in from work and getting my email subscription to Mediaite I couldn’t believe this nonsense about Keith Olbermann being “suspended” from MSNBC over making political donations.
Because it is unlikely my commentary here will be presented in other mainstream websites to wit I say what a crock of fucking bullshit !
Whether Olbermann broke any in-house policies regarding NBC or MSNBC news anchors or members of their news department is no longer the point. What is the point can MSNBC afford to “ground” one of its top flyers either temporarily or permanently ? The answer is a resounding NO !
I wasn’t a big fan of Rick Sanchez and yes he did say some rather stupid things in that radio interview but there again in this writer’s opinion to dump him like a hot potato to kotow to those who may have been offended by what he said rather than a short suspension and then giving him the opportunity to go back to his show and give a heart felt apology was nothing less than an excuse to dump Sanchez by the fools in charge, the pencil-dicks at the time, of CNN’s programming.
Sanchez became an opportunistic scapegoat for the pencil-dicks at CNN, which I may add has not been the brilliant news organization it once was in a very long time when founder Ted Turner was involved. The only thing CNN has going for it is Anderson Cooper and why in God’s name he re-uped with these idiots instead of pursuing other options with more viable news organizations is beyond me. Oh sure you will say money and blah, blah, blah, but if I was Cooper I’d want to go with a news organization like CBS, ABC or NBC regardless of salary rather than the sinking and ready to rollover Titanic that CNN has become. But when all is said and done that’s between Cooper and his agent.
It was the same when Don Imus made his stupid and asinine comments about a college women’s basketball team and in particular its African-American players. And what did the pencil-dicks at CBS/Viacom do ? Drop Imus like a hot potato in order to appease and kotow, this time in Imus’ case CBS Radio/Westwood One’s prime money maker. Yeah and the same pencil-dicks decided in 2006 that 120 plus of us grunts who actually do the work so the big shots can make their great and wonderful salaries and bonuses got downsized in the CBS Radio division, God forbid the CBS Television division share in that downsizing at the time. How they forget that radio started CBS not television. But then we no longer had our knight in shining armour Mel Kamazin to protect us thanks to Sumner Redstone not renewing Kamazin’s contract because the two of them no longer saw eye to eye. Yet another smart move by another pencil-dick.
Now back to Olbermann and his situation. You pencil-dicks at NBC and MSNBC have made your point, now it’s time to get Olbermann back in his anchor chair and give a contrite “oh I’m sorry” if that’s what you require. But it would be nice for one news organization to stop coming up with these dumb ass willy nilly excuses for dumping their news people. It’s probably a damn good thing I didn’t get hired at OutQ on Sirius. I’d probably write something on this blog which some dumb ass bastard, bitch or cross-over would find fault with and then there would be hell to pay. But you know what I don’t work for OutQ or any other news organization so I politely say stick it where the sun don’t shine and get Olbermann back !
Yeah I know I’m too outspoken, maybe I should go work for the Howard Stern show on Sirius.
