Anderson Cooper shreds DNC chair, Wasserman-Schultz, over false claims

Anderson Cooper shreds Debbie Wasserman-Schultz

One of the greatest sources of frustration with conservatives in America is the absolute unwillingness of the left-leaning media to confront liberal politicians with facts. In fact, if the mainstream media did a terrific job of truly covering the news in unbiased manner, cable news networks like Fox News, wouldn't even be needed.

Many would agree that the media has become the lap-dog for the Democratic party, rather than the watchdog for the American public.

For this reason, it was quite refreshing to see CNN's Anderson Cooper do a terrific job of holding a politician's feet to the fire.

In an interview, Thursday, DNC chair-woman, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Anderson drilled the Democrat about her blatant misrepresentation of a Los Angeles Times article. Completely taking out of context a portion of a statement made in the LA Times article, Wasserma-Schultz sent out fundraising e-mails with the following:

"Guess what? The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday that the platform was, and I quote, written at the direction of Romney's campaign."

She used this in the e-mails to sell the lie that Romney is opposed to abortions under all circumstances, even though, as Anderson kept reminding her, Romney has made it clear in the past that he does support abortion in cases of rape/incest, and risk of death for infant or mother.

Anderson quickly points out that this is not what the LA Times reported. What the LA Times actually said was:

"Delegates for presumptive nominee Mitt Romney are voting down substantive changes to the platform language that was written at the direction of Romney's campaign."

Wasserman-Schultz took the liberty to completely quote out of context a portion of this statement and used it in her e-mail dishonestly.

During the interview, Wasserman-Schultz kept saying that her lies "didn't matter". She insisted that the "bottom line" was that "women need to be informed" of the differences between the Obama and Romney campaigns.

In other words, to people like her, lying and distorting doesn't matter as long as your side wins the argument, as long as your side succeeds in brainwashing the minds of millions of Americans.

Also, the interview highlights the arrogant attitude that some on the left have in assuming that if the Wasserman-Schultzs of the world don''t take the time to inform "women" of the options that are available to them, they will be too stupid to figure things out on their own. Talk about a "war on women".

Nevertheless, Anderson Cooper continued to stick to his line of questioning. He did not back down, nor did he let her get away with her distortions:

"I don't understand why in a fundraising appeal you would, it seems, maybe accidentally, but you completely misquote the LA Times and you make it sound as if they're saying something that they're not saying and your using that as evidence to back up your position."

Wasserman-Schultz:

"Anderson, it doesn't matter."

Anderson:

"It does. I would matter if you're misquoting the LA Times as saying something they didn't say. You''re saying it's proof of your position and it's actually not proof of your position."

The debate continued and Wasserman-Schultz continued to do the Democratic party a huge disservice. She was caught lying and distorting AND worst of all, arrogantly unapologetic about it. She's obviously conviced that she can get away with these kinds of tactics.

Wasserman-Schultz was caught red-handed with nowhere to hide. She misquoted the LA Times to try to paint Romney as a monster when it comes to the issue of abortion, but the end result was a clear exposure of her very own monstrosity.

Thankfully, Anderson did not let her off the hook.

And, not surprisingly, all that the DNC chair could do is to ignore the reality, the fact that she had lied, and continued with her talking point that Obama loves women and that Romney hates women. That's all she had and even that, most intelligent people would understand, is also a lie. The lies and the distortions continue to spill out from the left as they see a increasingly perilous and unpopular Obama presidency coming to an ugly hault.

Kudos to Anderson Cooper on this interview.
