Sometimes we forget for a moment where Anderson Cooper gets his good looks, impeccable style, and quasi interest in fashion. Then we remember that his mom is denim design legend Gloria Vanderbilt, and it all makes sense again.
Ever wonder what it was like for Cooper growing up with Vanderbilt as a mom? The silver-haired reporter gave a short answer to that today on his newly minted YouTube channel.
Cooper claims he didn’t realize his mom was famous until he was a teenager, when Vanderbilt teamed up with designer Mohan Murjani to make jeans which famously bore her name in cursive embroidery along the pocket. “Suddenly I started to see her name on people’s butts and that was a little strange,” he says.
“My brother and I actually used to have a game where we would count how many people we saw wearing her name when that whole thing first started.” Awwww.
