CNN anchorman Anderson Cooper and his boyfriend Ben Maisani are adopting an orphan from Haiti The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively.
They plan to raise the child in the new home they are currently renovating, a former firehouse in the West Village of New York City.
“The death and destruction in Haiti made Anderson realize what’s really important. He and Ben have decided to become dads,” a longtime friend told The ENQUIRER.
“Ben has been the best thing that’s ever happened to Anderson. They both feel they’re ready for a baby.”
Ben, co-owner of NY gay bar Eastern Bloc, has been overseeing the renovations of their firehouse while Anderson was on assignment in Haiti.
“It just means once they get their son, he [Anderson] won’t jump on a plane for every story,” said the friend.
“Plus Ben is totally capable of keeping things under control when Anderson is away.”
Anderson responded recently on Twitter: “From AC: while the plight of children in Haiti has touched us all, stories about me adopting a baby are completely false.”
Whether they are or are not adopting a child, there are millions of children worldwide in need of adoption.
