Anderson Cooper to interview Angelina Jolie tonight
June 18, 2:12 PM
She's been in and out of town filming her next movie "Salt" with director Philip Noyce, but today through the weekend is all about World Refugee Day for Angelina Jolie.
The actress, who serves as Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, made an appearance at the National Geographic Museum in Washington this morning to help kick off World Refugee Day 2009, which is this Saturday.
CNN's Anderson Cooper is scheduled to interview Jolie about her refugee work tonight on "AC 360" (10 p.m. ET), and the "Today" show has been running promos for an Ann Curry interview with the Oscar winner that will air on Friday.
The topic for both Q&As will likely stick to her promotion of World Refugee Day, held annually on June 20 to raise awareness of the 42 million uprooted people around the world.
The actress, appointed to her UN post in 2001, released a video Monday (June 15) to draw attention to the plight of refugees around the world. The 30-second public service announcement was also co-produced by Jolie and is being shown every six minutes on 172 monitors at Washington's Dulles and Reagan airports. [Scroll down to watch.]
In "Salt," due July 2010, Jolie plays CIA officer Evelyn Salt, who is accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy. To clear her name, she must go on the run using her years of experience as a covert operative.
The mother of six with actor Brad Pitt was spotted filming around town earlier this year in various wigs that her character uses to disguise her appearance.
