Presidents Park Obama Statue on Anderson Cooper’s 360 CNN
By Presidents Park
June 16 2009 CNN 360
A number of photos have been taken while Presidents Park continues its free 2009 road tour of its most resent addition, the 18 foot, 12 ton President Barack Obama bust. While on tour in Chicago Illinois a stop was made to fill up and acquire some refreshments. During this stop one of the staff took the time to check the top of Obama’s head for any problems. Apparently it was at that moment that some one chose to take a snap shot of the head of the statue.
The statue is in two parts as it is just too big to transport assembled. The shoulders ride on a flat bed trailer and the head by itself rides on a flat bed truck. Numerous times while on the tour the head has been temporary placed upon its shoulders, but the artist, David Adickes, wants to keep this practice limited in case there are any problems.
The next time it will be assembled it will be at Mount Rushmore on June 18th for an all day display, then one last time at the Presidents Park near Lead / Deadwood, South Dakota around June 23rd. The base for President Obama's statue is almost complete, after the statue is set, sculpture employees from Houston Texas will complete the finishing touches.
A July 4th dedication is planed with free admission to all who wish to attend.
The article didn't include the picture with the worker on top of Obama's head, so I took the liberty to mount Anderson there! Something most likely he would have done himself had he been there at that moment. Think of it as recreating the past that actually DID happen in a parallel Universe!
