Anderson Cooper Jumps on the Rotating Co-Host Bandwagon
By Alexandra Cheney
A name change, an additional rotating host and a new live format are in store for “Anderson,” the hour-long daily syndicated talk show helmed by Anderson Cooper. For its second season, the show, now “Anderson Live,” is also being moved from The Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center to the CBS Broadcast Center on the stage formerly occupied by “The Nate Berkus Show.”
The first co-host is Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth. She left CBS’s “The Good Wife” after an on-set injury, and will be joining Cooper on Sept. 10, when the second season premieres.
Other recently announced co-hosts that will share the stage with Cooper include Goldie Hawn, Howie Mandel, Kelly Osbourne, Cyndi Lauper, D.L. Hughley, Kellie Pickler and Erin Andrews.
They join the roster of previously announced celebrity guests who include Richard Gere, Beyonce, Jake Gyllenhaal, Claire Danes, Meg Ryan, Ben Affleck, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Kerry Washington, Kelsey Grammer, Carol Burnett and Stephen Colbert.
Both Jeff Probst and Katie Couric, who have daytime talk shows launching next month, have made a point of stating their desire to avoid celebrity-promotion style shows.
For the last several months, ABC’s “Live! with Kelly Ripa” has been searching for a permanent co-host to join Ripa on her morning show.
