Anderson Cooper's daytime show Anderson wants to hear from the Hooter's waitress caught up in last week's Pinellas school controversy.
Leah Ramker, Tampa Bay marketing director for Hooters Management Corp. in Clearwater, said Tuesday that a producer from the show called Sunday. She said the waitress, Brittany Morgan, has not decided if she's going to go on.
A spokesperson for the show confirmed it reached out to Morgan, but said nothing has been booked.
For the Great American Teach-In, Morgan, 22, spoke to students at Calvin A. Hunsinger School, a K-12 public school in Clearwater that serves 130 students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. She was wearing sweatpants and a sweater, not a Hooters outfit.
Her speaking engagement drew criticism from the mother of a sixth-grader who said it sent the wrong message to students about what kinds of jobs and careers they should be striving for. There were few other speakers.
The mother, Ashley Dominicci, said she has not been contacted by the Anderson show. But the show spokesperson said it was reaching out to both sides.
The story has been picked up by news outlets and web sites around the world since it was posted on tampabay.com Friday.
