Peter's Note: Needless to say I voted for Anderson; but only once. I had thought to write his name in all 10 spaces but the folks at AfterElton only let you vote for your hottie only once, so I had to spend a lot of time scratching my head looking for the other nine. In 2 minutes I had the list completed. It was quite a chore, Anderson's name kept sneaking into my mind and I made many mistakes that I had to go back and correct. Obviously there is no gay person worth his gayness going around by the name of Homer Cooper -- he'd never get his Gay Club Card.
Please go to AfterElton Hot 100 and vote, Vote, VOTE! for Anderson; obviously we want him in the number 1 position!
Vote for the 2010 AfterElton.com Hot 100!
by AfterElton.com Staff
April 26, 2010
Has it really been four years?
It has! For four years now, AfterElton.com has been asking our gay and bisexual male readers who they think are the world’s hottest men, which we then compile into a list called The AfterElton.com Hot 100.
Plenty of people are interested in knowing what you think. Every year, our results are picked up by print, internet, and TV outlets all over the world – and we’ve also heard the reactions from some of the top-placers, including Neil Patrick Harris, John Barrowman, and Anderson Cooper.
And why shouldn’t these folks care? There are plenty of lists of beautiful people compiled by and for straight people, but this list is about gay and bisexual men telling the world who we think are sexy.
Let’s face it: we have good taste. And in so many ways, we’re often way ahead of the cultural curve. Just as with fashion and music, the beautiful faces (and bodies) we focus on eventually end up attracting the attention of the heterosexual world as well. It’s certainly been the case with past Hot 100 lists as many of your picks have gone onto big careers in acting, music, politics, or athletics.
What does it mean to be hot to a gay or bisexual guy? It’s different for each of, of course. For some, it’s all about a killer smile and a rockin’ bod. For others, it’s about talent, passion, intelligence, or wit (as well as a rockin’ bod!).
For some gay and bisexual men, the very hottest guys of all are those who are out and proud. For others, an attractive straight man will do just fine. But they better be a gay ally or it doesn’t really matter how hot they are because we won’t be interested.
The beauty of the AfterElton.com Hot 100 is that you, the reader, get to decide exactly what qualifies as hot.
Just like last year, we’ll not only have the main Hot 100 where you get to name your top ten choices, but you can also vote for which guys you think are the Hottest Men of Color, the Hottest Out Gay/Bisexual Men and the Hottest Men over 50.
To submit up to 5 nominees in each of these additionnal polls (either before or after completing your Hot 100 submissions below) just click on the relevant link...
Note that guys in these extra categories are also eligible for the main poll and no doubt many guys will make both lists. So feel free to vote for your hottest out gay gay in both relevant categories.
One request: So that we can get a true picture of who gay and bisexual men find attractive, please don't vote more than once. We've set up the form to count only the last vote from a specific IP address, so ballot stuffing will be wasted effort. And if you submit the same name 10 times, it will only count once, so don't try that either! (We're on to you gay men and your tricky ways!) Please nominate each person by their full name (e.g. "John Smith, not "John" or "John S.") and spell it correctly.
For those of you having trouble remembering all the possible guys to vote for, here are the Hot 100 from 2009.
And women and straight men? While we appreciate your support of AfterElton.com, voting in the Hot 100 is limited to gay and bisexual men only. After all, the whole point of the AfterElton.com Hot 100 is to tell the world who we gay and bisexual men think are sexy! But since we are interested in knowing what you think, please feel free to use the comments to tell us who your choices would be.
Who will return from last year’s list? What fresh new faces will be joining them? The polls will be open until May 7th, and then we'll publish the results on May 17th.
Vote for your picks now and then lobby for your favorites in the comments. Then do us a favor and let the world know you voted via Facebook or Twitter. The more votes we get, the more interesting our list is bound to be!
