For those of us worried about the fate of the animals after the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, here is a bit of excellent news. The Humane Society, local and international, are still doing everything they can to help those beautiful creatures.
I am sure Anderson likes this... no, I am sure Anderson Loves! this. As much as he likes animals and animals like him, the Humane Society is something both of them, Anderson and animals, have in common.

HSI Assists Animals Affected by Chile Earthquake
CHILE — Humane Society International is supporting a response team of the RIMA Foundation, one of its Chilean partner groups, to assess animal needs in the wake of the Feb. 27 earthquake. The team is giving emergency food, water, and veterinary treatment to afflicted animals and has offered further support pending the assessment.
"We are glad to be working with our Chilean partner in helping the people of Chile and their pets as well as displaced animals affected by this tragedy," said Kelly O'Meara, director of companion animals and engagement for HSI.
The veterinary team, led by Dr. Sergio Muñoz Rodriguez of RIMA, is working in the city of Constitution and on Monday treated more than 70 animals. The team also distributed food gathered by the Animal Relief Chile (Socorro Animal Chile) campaign. The team's efforts will focus on areas receiving little attention, such as the Del Maule (VII) and Bio-Bio (VIII) regions of Chile.
During the last decade, HSI teams have responded to disasters in Haiti, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Mexico, among other nations.

HSUS and HSI Send Third Response Team to Haiti
The Humane Society of the United States, the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association and Humane Society International sent their first response team to Haiti three weeks ago, and are now sending a third team of disaster responders and veterinarians to the devastated country. This team is on the move and should arrive in Haiti on Feb. 13 to provide aid to animals affected by the Jan. 12 earthquake.
"Over the past three weeks Humane Society International, The Humane Society of the United States and the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association's response teams have provided much-needed relief to the animals and people affected by last month's deadly Haitian earthquake," said Kelly O'Meara, director of HSI's companion animals division. "Our teams have provided food, medical assistance and vaccinations to a variety of animals in the area. Our third response team will continue this work and also meet with local officials to discuss ongoing support of animal welfare."
The HSI/HSUS/HSVMA field responders include two veterinarians, a veterinary technician and a disaster responder trained in animal handling. The HSI team is working with a group in the Dominican Republic, Veterinary Care & Human Services, Caribbean Project, Christian Veterinary Mission in Haiti and the Canadian Animal Assistance Team.
