Anderson Cooper Sells Midtown Penthouse for $3.8 Million
Thursday, July 12, 2012, by Sara Polsky
Once his renovation of a possibly haunted firehouse at 84 West 3rd Street was well underway, Anderson Cooper was ready to unload his duplex penthouse at 28 West 38th Street. He listed it for $3.75 million in March, it went into contract a month later, and now the closing has hit public record. The final price was $3.8 million, and the buyer is listed as the Richard K. Maloof Family Trust, with Maloof himself as trustee. Got more light to shed on the purchase? Please do share with the tipline.
Anderson Cooper gave the place a thorough renovation "to evoke its industrial roots." A taste, via the brokerbabble:
- Radiant heat, 7" wide, aged, smoked Chambord oak floors warm the body, while satin glass walls and dark patina steel shelves cool the senses. Step into the master bath and find split-faced diamond grey limestone, teak flooring, dark chocolate colored stainless steel and acid etched, white interlayer custom glass partitions and shower enclosures. Travel up the floating staircase to find an entertaining oasis, wood burning fireplace and dining area complimented by a chef's kitchen complete with Sub-Zero, Viking and Miele appliances and a Ceasarstone countertop….Follow the metal & ipe staircase to an additional roof terrace.
