Anderson Cooper Questions Why NBC News Cut Portion Of Jerry Sandusky Interview (VIDEO)

NBC is facing questions over why it didn't air a portion of former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky's interview last fall.

Bob Costas nabbed an exclusive interview with Sandusky [see below], accused of sexually abusing young boys, in November.

Sandusky's accusers delivered harrowing testimonies in court this past week.

MNSBC reported [see below, below] on Monday that prosecutors have asked NBC News for the unedited transcript of the interview — which includes a particularly controversial remark that never aired — for possible use as evidence.

In the exchange, Sandusky told Costas, "I didn't go around seeking out every young person for sexual needs that I've helped. There are many that I didn't have — I hardly had any contact with who I have helped in many, many ways." The clip was shown on Monday's "NBC Nightly News."

Anderson Cooper, among others, questioned why the network cut that portion out of the original broadcast. He tweeted, "I can't believe the ‪#Sandusky‬ statement to Bob Costas that never aired. Did it sound as shocking to you as it did to me?! @AC360 8p, 10p."

Cooper replayed the clip on CNN Monday night. After discussing latest developments in the case, he remarked, "Why that got edited out, by the way -- why that got edited out of the original interview, I don't know. But it seems to be a pretty blockbuster piece of tape." His comments about the tape start at 4:04 in the clip above.
