'Snack Man' Talks About Heroic Act on Subway
Friday, May 18, 2012 -- 5:00 AM
New York City resident Charles Sonder appears on "Anderson" to talk about how he nonchalantly got in the middle of a fighting couple on a subway car. A bystander on the train videotaped the entire incident on a cell phone and the video went viral on YouTube and has more than 2 million views.
Sonder says he was eating his snack of Pringles and Gummy Bears when he witnessed the man and woman kicking and physically hurting each other during the fight, and decided to silently intervene by standing between them. "It looked like they were a couple that maybe didn't want to hurt each other, or other people on the subway, and as soon as I saw the guy kick the girl in the stomach I thought I should just step in. I didn't think they would hurt me."
As a reward for his heroic efforts, Pringles decided to give Sonder a year's worth of their delicious chips for free.
