Cozily ensconced in an East Village storefront that was recently a tattoo parlor, Kabinett & Kammer is the Manhattan outpost of an Andes, N.Y., antiques shop that has captured the attention of celebrities like Amy Sedaris and Anderson Cooper. (Mr. Cooper liked the original store so much, he hired the owner, Sean Scherer, to design his apartment across town.)
The new one-room store, which Mr. Scherer created to “look like the inside of a Joseph Cornell box,” does not disappoint, with its signature array of quirky objets d’art and antique medical, botanical and zoological diagrams. A tableau reminiscent of Noah’s Ark running up the center of the store includes a baby zebra, a gazelle and a badger, among other stuffed creatures, while a table at the back displays a menagerie of folded paper animals created for Isabella Rossellini’s TV series “Green Porno.”
The show’s creative director, Rick Gilbert, has partnered with Mr. Scherer on the East Village venture — which may just help transform the neighborhood’s traditionally urban jungle into a more peaceable kingdom.

"...Cooper hired Sean Scherer to design his apartment across town."
I wonder what "apartment across town" this article is referring to; perhaps Anderson's old apartment, before he bought the fire station with Benjamin. Or, Anderson has two homes in Manhattan. Anderson hired Cary Tamarkin to help with the interior design of the fire house, so Mr. Sean Scherer mentioned in this article must have helped with a different apartment. I guess.
But, looking at the style of Mr. Scherer design for "Kabinett & Kammer", it seems more likely that he helped with Benjamin's second bar, Bedlam:
But I'm merely speculating...
