LIBYA – As Moammar Gadhafi continues to deny the slaughter from Gadhafi forces on his own people, a Sky News reporter by the name of Alex Crawford reported to CNN’s Anderson Cooper last night what she has seen on the ground in the city of Zawiyah.
When Crawford arrived there last Friday, she said that she immediately witnessed large numbers of protesters marching toward Libyan tanks.
Crawford said a few had pistols, but the vast majority were unarmed and said no one fired as they marched.
Then Crawford said Libyan forces began shooting them down.
Crawford also reported that phone lines are cut, cell service is shut down and so is the Internet.
“At this point, the Gadhafi regime is insisting to reporters in Tripoli that his forces are in control here, Crawford said. “Well, this is how he's trying to stay in power.”
Anderson Cooper said Gadhafi doesn’t want the world to hear what Crawford is saying.
“He's trying to cover up what's happening in Zawiyah, but thanks to Alex Crawford, he has failed,” said Cooper.
