I am the Director of a Study Abroad Program at an Israeli University and I received an inquiry about studying at our program from a student in Iran. He sent me translated documentation about who he is, but obtaining a visa from Iran to study in Israel will be impossible. I saw your piece on Ahmed Begoti and I was wondering if he is working with people who scould possibly help this student get out of Iran to study abroad. I am not sure that Israel would give him a visa to come and study, but it is clear that he wants to get out of Iran and I would like to try to help him.

Dear Susan Stern,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry I cannot be of much help. I only found the segment of 60 Minutes on the Internet and posted it on my Anderson Cooper blog.
I assume that the best people that might be able to help you will be the folks at CBS or CNN. In their web sites they have links to contact them if you have any questions.
I wish I knew more about how Mr. Begoti made his way to the United States. I wondered that as I was watching the segment. But I only know what everybody else know from the 60 Minutes segment itself.
Sorry I wish I could be of more help. Good luck.
