Anderson Cooper hosts these awards, which were launched last year to spotlight and celebrate ordinary citizens who have accomplished extraordinary things.
The programme has received nearly 4000 submissions this time. Last year saw appearances by stars such as Glenn Close and performances by Sheryl Crow, Wyclef Jean with Norah Jones, and Mary J Blige.
