Anderson is joined by CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, to discuss the real dangers of germs and to inform viewers when to worry. Anderson conducts an investigation in New York City to reveal what germs are in public places, including subways, elevator buttons, ATMs, shopping carts, pay phones and more. Anderson then has his very own eyeglasses, cell phone and camera/travel bag tested for germs -- and the results are shocking.
Anderson also meets a mother of four who took matters into her own hands after a trip to a fast food restaurant play area revealed various bacteria, bodily fluids and clumps of hair. Anderson also speaks with two mothers who survived nearly fatal bacterial infections… how it altered their lives forever is shocking. Anderson also meets 13-year-old Dugan Smith, whose bone cancer and amputated leg have not kept him from following his dream and love of baseball. Anderson discusses with Dugan the surgery that saved his life… and how he has overcome the challenges of having a leg reattached backward.
